Youth Dance Program 2011-2012

IGNITE Dance and Yoga is determined to provide a healthy and supportive environment for all ages to explore their physical and mental potential through dance and yoga. We strive to promote self-confidence, teamwork and positive self-image. It is our commitment to provide honest communication, respect and compassion for all that enter the studio space.
TUITION
IGNITE’s dance program is based on the school year. Enrollment in all classes is open until March 1st, based on availability. Tuition is due by the 1ST and late after the 10TH of each month and any payments after that will automatically include $15 dollar late fee. We accept cash, checks and credit cards. Monthly tuition is divided into equal payments for lessons received for a full 9-month dance session (September - June), not on lessons per month. Payments remain the same each month regardless of attendance, school closures, or holidays. Everyone receives the same number of classes during the year regardless of the day of the week. You can receive discounts on tuition by opting to pay by the trimester or yearly (see Registration Form for details). Upon enrolling in a class, you are holding a spot in that class whether you are present or absent. All students have the option to make-up missed classes due to absences by coming and taking other classes on the schedule. Any NSF checks will be charged a $25 fee. You will continue to be charged monthly tuition until we are notified of your termination of classes. Notification of dropping a class must be made by the 15th of the month prior.

December 10 – Competition Rehearsal Show (tentative)
December 20-January 2 – Closed for Winter Break
February 20-25 – Closed for Mid-Winter Break
April 2-7 – Closed for Spring Break
May 28 – Closed for Memorial Day
June 2 – Dress Rehearsal @ IGNITE (and Recreational Routine Photos @ IGNITE)
June 9 – Spring Recital (tentative)
June 16 – Team Auditions (tentative)
*Weather related closures – In the event of adverse weather, please visit our website or call the studio for recorded information. If classes are cancelled due to weather, make up classes will be scheduled for a future date.
CLASS ATTENDANCE AND MAKE-UP CLASSES
Good attendance is very important in order for students to progress. Excessive absences can put a dancer behind in his or her class. There are no refunds due to absences, however your student has the option to attend a similar class to make up the absence. Please contact the studio if your student will be absent due to illness or other commitments.
DANCE DRESS REQUIREMENTS
Proper dance attire enables the dancers to have full range of movement and allows the teacher to assess the dancer’s alignment and posture. In colder weather, layers of clothing are allowed until the dancer is warmed up and then proper dance attire needs to be on underneath the layers. Jeans are never allowed, even for the hip hop classes. The following is what we expect dancers to wear, Appropriate dance shoes for each class is required.
Jazz, Lyrical, Contemporary – choice of tights, bike shorts, jazz pants, capris, form-fitting tank tops, sports bras, workout tops, or leotards. Hair should be pulled back in order to spot – no long ponytails.
Ballet –
Girls – black leotard, pink tight tights and pink ballet shoes. Hair in bun.
Boys – black tank top, black shorts above the knee, black or white ballet shoes
Hip Hop – Loose clothing, knees covered, dedicated sneakers/shoes
Tap – ankles must show, no baggy clothing, black tap shoes. Hair pulled back.
Creative Movement, Ballet/Tap Combos – leotard with or witout skirt, tights, ballet shoes and/or tap shoes. Hair pulled back.
DECEMBER DEMO DAYS
The week of December 12th – 17th families and friends are invited to come in the dance room and watch the last 10 minutes of class. The dancers will show off their new skills and perform a short routine. Be sure to bring your video camers!
JUNE RECITAL
Our June Recital will be an opportunity for all students to showcase their accomplishments! It will be held in a local theater. All students participating in the show will be required to sign up and pay for the costumes no later than March 1st. Costumes will range from $45 to $65 and show tickets will be around $8.
BIRTHDAY PARTIES
IGNITE is available to rent for birthday parties, depending on studio availability. For $150, an IGNITE instructor of your choice will do a 45 minute dance class of your choice (maximum 15 kids) and then you will have 45 minutes of party time for treats and games!! You provide your own refreshments and decorations. Chairs and tables are provided. THEME Birthday Parties are also available! Prices depend on the event. Choose your theme – such as Princess, Pirate, Super Hero… and we’ll supply the party favors, decorations and cake! There will be a 45 minute dance class along with an arts and crafts project! Contact the studio for details!
PRIVATE LESSONS
IGNITE instructors are often available upon request to give private lessons. Private lessons are pre-pay only and cancellations need to be done within 24 hours to receive a refund. The rate is $60 per hour and may be scheduled through the studio.
TEACHER ASSISTANTS
In larger classes, an assistant teacher will be present to ensure that each student is receiving the best attention possible! Our assistant teachers program is a great way for our dancers to participate in helping others learn. Please contact us if you are interested in assisting.
INSURANCE
All students are required to be covered by their own personal insurance. It is understood that IGNITE is not responsible for student injury or loss of personal belongings.
